Yes, Resets Count as Wins

Success is sometimes (incorrectly) perceived as linear and/or tied to your career. Both couldn’t be more wrong.

Trust me on this one.

Everyone’s on their own timeline, including you, but your timeline is not a tightrope. It’s not straight, and it’s ok to fall into the net and bounce back up. It’s called a reset, and it’s perfectly normal. One step back and two steps forward is still a step forward.

Take one of Allwyn Bosco’s four ways of leveraging small wins: celebrating progress. Acknowledge your milestones. If you take a mental health day or weekend and it puts you back on track, then call it what it is: a win! And don’t be afraid to be brash about it, either. Claim those moments proudly. This is “you time.” The rest of the world can wait. Stand firm on your boundaries, trust the process, and the happiness will follow.

My mom always told me to floss my teeth, write thank-you cards, and be kind to myself. I always knew she was on to something.

Mental wins come in all shapes and sizes. A day at a coffee shop, a trip to a sporting event, or just a day of bedrotting. As long as it moves the needle forward, you’re on the right track. Last weekend, I took an impromptu drive out to Huntington Beach. This weekend, I gave myself a mental and physical reset. It’s now Sunday, and I’m ready to crush another week.

So yes, resets count as wins. It’s your life. Your roadmap. Your unique path to peace. Take all the detours you want, make all the side quests you need.

Because inside, no matter what your roadmap looks like, we’re all trying to end up at the same place.
